Biographical Information[edit]

Yi-Chih Huang pitched in the CPBL for 5 years.

Huang pitched four games for Taiwan in the 2014 Haarlem Baseball Week, with a 3.18 ERA. He led the team in pitching appearances, tying Arshwin Asjes for third in the event. He was 0-1 with a 5.14 ERA in the 2015 World Port Tournament, losing to Curacao in his lone start. He also started one game in the 2015 Asian Championship, allowing 3 hits in 5 innings while fanning three in a win over Pakistan. Taiwan got the Silver Medal.

The EDA Rhinos selected him in the 3rd round of the 2015 CPBL Draft, and he was 1-4 with a 7.00 ERA in his rookie year. He pitched 1 inning with 2 runs allowed in 2016 Taiwan Series Game 2, and the Rhinos surprisingly named him the starter of Game 4. Huang pitched well, as he only allowed a run in 5 innings to help the Rhinos beat the CTBC Brothers in 6 games and win the title. He was 2-7 with a 6.42 ERA in 2017, then his ERA was 5.66 in 22 games in 2018. Huang only pitched 3 games combined in the next two seasons, then the Fubon Guardians (the Rhinos had changed their name) released him. He then became the bullpen coach of the Wei Chuan Dragons in 2022.

Overall, Huang was 7-16 with a 6.38 ERA, struck out 99 and pitched 193 1/3 innings in 5 seasons in the CPBL.
