Wesley College was originally a college preparatory school founded in 1873, then became a junior college in 1918, as the Wesley Collegiate Institute and later Wesley Junior College. It began to offer four-year degrees in 1978 and in 2020 was acquired by Delaware State University to be effective after the 2020-2021 school year.
