Biographical Information[edit]
Jesse "Broadway" Jones pitched three games in the majors with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1923. While the minor league database doesn't show him with any minor league appearances, an article about him [1] says he played some games under another name, "Ableman", in New York and may also have played with the minor league Baltimore Orioles.
The article states that he came from a well-to-do family, was a playboy, and played baseball for fun. He attended Wesley College and his college friend Huck Betts, who played for the Phillies, recommended him. After his few games in the big leagues, he was not willing to go to the minors.
After baseball, Jesse became a salesman.
