Biographical Information[edit]
Bret Underwood became a college head coach in 2012.
Underwood hit .356 with 15 homers and 77 RBI as a college sophomore. He led the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in RBI, was 5th in average and made All-Conference. He tied for 19th in NCAA Division I in RBI. In 2003, the junior was again 5th in the MEAC at .356 but he fell to 10 home runs and 46 RBI. He was again an All-Conference infielder. As a senior, Bret batted .337 and led the MEAC with 12 dingers. He was All-Conference for the third straight year.
Signing with the Boston Red Sox chain, he was sent to the GCL Red Sox. He was 10 for 53 (all singles) with 4 runs, 4 RBI and 3 walks. He played error-free ball in 12 games at 1B and one at 3B. He was assistant coach at Wesley College from 2006-2011, becoming head coach when Tripp Keister left for a job managing minor league ball. He remained at Wesley until the school closed after the 2021 season.
