Biographical Information[edit]
Wei Kao has played in the CPBL for 3 years.
Kao represented Taiwan in the 1994 World Youth Championship. He also on Taiwan's roster of 1999 World Port Tournament, 2000 Haarlem Baseball Week, and 2002 World University Championship. He had a .440 batting average and named as the All-Tournament Team third baseman in the 2002 World University Championship. [1]
The Macoto Cobras picked Kao in the 3rd round of 2005 CPBL Draft. [2] In his rookie year, Kao hit .273/.333/.339 and was selected into the All-Star game for the first time. His career year was 2007, as he hit .268/.341/.427 with career-high 9 dingers.[3] He was selected into the All-Star game again and won his only Gold Glove as a third baseman. Kao had a career-high .296 batting average in 2008, and led the league with 51 walks. However, when the DMedia T-Rex dissolved due to a gamble scandal, no teams wanted to signed Kao and he left the league.
Overall, Kao hit .279/.358/.380 with 175 hits in 3 seasons in the CPBL.
