Biographical Information[edit]

Wayne Boyer is the brother of major leaguers Ken Boyer, Clete Boyer, Cloyd Boyer, and minor leaguers Lynn Boyer, Ron Boyer and Len Boyer, and the uncle of Dave Boyer and Mickey Boyer. While most of the Boyers were position players, Wayne was a pitcher.

He was 0-1 for the 1946 Opelika Owls, walking 24 in 23 innings. In 1947, he pitched for the Carthage Cardinals (4-2, 4.70, 55 BB in 67 IP) and Lenoir Red Sox (2-4, 6.40, 42 BB in 52 IP). He ended up in 1948 as a pitcher-outfielder for the Tallassee Indians (8-10, 4.66, 103 BB in 137 IP; .268 with one HR).
