Biographical Information[edit]

Wang-Wei Lin is the twin brother of Wang-Yi Lin; both played in the US minors and the CPBL.

Lin played in the 2004 World Junior Championship, going 1 for 11 but with a walk, 2 runs and 2 RBI as Taiwan's center fielder. He also played in the 2006 World Junior Championship. He signed with the Minnesota Twins that October. In his minor league debut, he hit .194/.265/.290 for the GCL Twins with 25 strikeouts in 62 AB in 2007. In 2008, he was 1 for 10 with a walk before his season ended due to injury. He returned to the field in 2009 and improved his play, hitting .364/.432/.545 in 10 games. Lin hit .236/.342/.279 for A Beloit Snappers in 2010, and he improved to .276/.372/.358 in 2011 while registering 11 outfield assists. He stayed with Beloit in 2012 but he slumped to .232/.343/.334, then the Twins released him. He then represented Taiwan in the 2013 East Asian Games (winning Bronze), 2013 World Port Tournament (going 7-for-13 with 3 doubles but not qualifying for the batting title; he was one hit behind leader Dwayne Kemp) and 2014 Haarlemse Honkbalweek.

The EDA Rhinos selected Lin in the second round of the 2014 CPBL Draft, and he hit .282/.377/.392 with 2 homers in his first season in Taiwan. He was selected into the 2015 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 1-for-3. However, that was the only productive season for him in the CPBL. Lin slumped to .209/.262/.327 in 2016, and his batting line was .216/.310/.352 in 2017. He mainly stayed in the minors in the next season as he only played 8 games with the big club, and he was released. The Wei Chuan Dragons signed him, and he hit .211/.301/.344 for them in 2021. However, he only played 9 games for them in 2022, then he announced his retirement.

Overall, Lin hit .231/.313/.347 with 149 hits and 10 homers in 6 seasons in the CPBL.
