Biographical Information[edit]
Virgilio Roxas hit .214/.267/.214 and fielded .813 as the starting third baseman for the Philippines in the 2001 Baseball World Cup, their first Baseball World Cup appearance. He was 1 for 12 in the 2002 Asian Games, his only hit coming against champion South Korea. He was on the Philippines in the 2003 Asian Championship and when they won Gold in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games. In the 2006 Intercontinental Cup, Roxas batted .148/.179/.222 and fielded .700 in 9 games at the hot corner. He also was in the 2006 Asian Games.
Roxas was 1 for 7 with 4 strikeouts in the 2007 Asian Championship but fielded perfectly in 14 chances at third and first base. He won Silver in the 2007 Southeast Asian Games. He was named MVP of Baseball Philippines Series 3, completed in October 2008, after hitting .507 with five home runs and 17 RBI.
