Biographical Information[edit]

Vince Horsman was signed by the Toronto Blue Jays as a free agent in 1984. Horsman began his professional career in 1985 with the Medicine Hat Blue Jays in the Pioneer League, going 0-3 with 1 save and a 6.25 ERA in 18 games. In 1986, Horsman was promoted to the Class A Florence Blue Jays of the South Atlantic League, going 4-3 with 1 save and a 4.07 ERA in 29 games. Horsman remained in the South Atlantic League in 1987, playing with the Myrtle Beach Blue Jays. He was switched to the starter role, and went 7-7 with a 3.32 ERA in 30 games.

In 1988, Horsman played with the Dunedin Blue Jays went 3-1 with 1 save and a 1.46 ERA in 14 games before being promoted to the AA Knoxville Smokies, where he finished the year out going 3-2 with a 4.61 ERA in 20 games. Again in 1989, Horsman split the season with both Dunedin and Knoxville, going 5-6 with 8 saves and a 2.51 ERA in 35 games with Dunedin and 0-0 with 1 save and a 1.80 ERA with Knoxville. For a third year in a row in 1990, Horsman split time between Dunedin and Knoxville, going 4-7 with 1 save and a 3.24 ERA in 28 games in Dunedin and 2-1 with a 4.63 ERA in 8 games with Knoxville. Finally in 1991, Horsman played in Knoxville for good, and went 4-1 with 3 saves and a 2.34 ERA in 42 games before being called up by the Blue Jays, and pitched four scoreless games.

On March 24, 1992, the Oakland Athletics claimed Horsman off waivers from the Blue Jays. That year, Horsman played in his only full major league season, going 2-1 with 1 save and a 2.49 ERA in 58 games. Horsman spent the 1993 season, with the AAA Tacoma Rainiers, where he went 1-2 with 3 saves and a 4.28 ERA in 26 games and the A's where he went 2-0 with a 5.40 ERA in 40 games. He split the 1994 season, between Tacoma and Oakland, going 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA in 7 games with the Rainiers, and 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in 33 games with the A's.

He was released by the A's on December 5, 1994.

The Minnesota Twins signed Horsman on April 6, 1995. He went 1-0 with a 10.38 ERA in 16 games with the AAA Salt Lake Buzz and went 0-0 with a 7.00 ERA in 6 games with the Twins. He was released by the Twins on August 8th.

In 1996, Horsman returned to the Blue Jays, and played with their AAA affiliate, the Syracuse Chiefs, and went 0-3 with a 5.40 ERA in 29 games.

In 1997, Horsman went to play in Taiwan for one year in the Taiwan Major League. He went 0-4 with a 5.21 ERA in 19 games between the Taichung Agan and Chianan Luka.

Horsman returned from Taiwan in 1998, to sign with the Baltimore Orioles. Horsman finished his career going 0-0 with a 2.92 ERA in 8 games with the AAA Rochester Red Wings. The Orioles offered Horsman the job of batting practice pitcher for the major league team, which Horsman held from 1998 to 2004.

Horsman pitched in the 2005 Baseball Canada Senior Championship with the Darmouth Moosehead Dry. He was the pitching coach of the Auburn Doubledays in 2009-2010, Lansing Lugnuts in 2011-2014, Dunedin Blue Jays in 2015, and New Hampshire Fisher Cats in 2016-2019.
