Biographical Information

Pitcher Victor Diaz was signed by Boston Red Sox scouts Manny Nanita and Eddie Romero before the 2015 season. He began his professional career with the DSL Red Sox 2, going 6-1, 1.38 in 21 relief appearances in the Dominican Summer League. In 2016, he moved to the Greenville Drive of the South Atlantic League, skipping a couple of rungs on the minor league ladder in the process. In 37 games, he was 2-5, 3.88 with 10 saves, striking out 63 batters in 60 1/3 innings.

On December 6, 2016, he was one of four prospects traded by the Red Sox to the Chicago White Sox in return for ace pitcher Chris Sale; the others were Yoan Moncada, Luis Alexander Basabe and Michael Kopech.
