This is a feature that has existed since the creation of the bullpen. A similar feature exists in wikipedia. I have no idea what the source code is or where you would find it, but it's understandable why it's protected, given the link is on the main page. I was not involved in the design of the main page and have only limited technical knowledge. I provided you earlier with the name of the person at Sports Reference who deals with such issues. I made the 19th century roster in The Show 17 around a year ago. I still play every game in the series so it was kinda a random one but I had a lot of old rosters saved from the vault in that game before they shut it down so I just added a bunch of the players to a roster plus needed to create a good 2,000 or so of them from scratch. It included every player to debut from the first year of MLB (1871) up to 1900. I actually ended up overwriting the file on accident shortly after I completed it 🥲 but I still had a screen recording of it which I uploaded to some baseball discussion group on Facebook that has a number of former players in it which is basically the only reason I occasionally use the app. 𝕮𝖔𝖉𝖞 (talk) 18:45, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
