Tyler pitched two seasons in the Brewers' organization in 2013 and 2014. He was 2-0, 1.72 in 13 games for the Helena Brewers of the Pioneer League the first year, and then 5-6, 4.78 in 26 games mainly for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers of the Midwest League in 2014. He was released after the season and pursued his career in the independent leagues, spending three seasons with the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks of the American Association. His best year was 2016, when he was 12-5, 3.45 in 22 games. In 2018, he started off going 6-0, 3.59 for the Sussex County Miners of the Can-Am Association, and finished the year with the Tigres de Quintana Roo of the Mexican League, where he was 4-3, 3.81. During this period he also played winter ball every year, the first two with the Charros de Jalisco of the Mexican Pacific League, and 2018-19 with Leones del Escogido in the Dominican League.
In 2019, he returned to an affiliated team, playing for the Las Vegas Aviators of the Pacific Coast League, after having signed with the Oakland Athletics.
