Biographical Information[edit]
Tung-Hua Yueh has played in the CPBL and for the Taiwanese national team. His brother Cheng-Hua Yueh was Taiwan Series MVP in 2022 and his brother Shao-Hua Yueh has played in the CPBL. [1]
Tung-Hua Yueh appeared in the Asia Winter League in 2015, played for Taiwan in the 2016 Haarlem Baseball Week and was back in the Asia Winter League in '16. [2] He was a first-round pick of the Chinatrust Brothers in the 2017 CPBL Draft. [3] He was 0 for 1 in the 2017 CPBL. [4] He hit .331/.406/.485 in the Taiwanese minors in '18 and batted .145/.200/.145 in 24 games for the big club, fielding .934, with action at 2B, SS, 3B and CF. He got his first CPBL hit off Yi-Cheng Wang.
Making big strides in 2019, he produced at a .305/.358/.488 clip. Playing all over the field again (24 games in the outfield, 18 at 2B, 13 at SS and 10 at 3B), he fielded .986. Yueh was 3-for-17 in the 2019 Taiwan Series, and the Brothers lost to the Lamigo Monkeys in 5 games. He then made the Taiwanese squad for the 2019 Premier 12. He went 1 for 10 with 3 walks and 3 runs, handling 10 chances error-free; he backed up Sheng-Wei Wang at short. His lone hit came off Japan's Taisuke Yamaoka. [5]
Yueh hit .291/.355/.405 in 2020, and he recorded a .160/.185/.320 batting line in the 2020 Taiwan Series as the Brothers were beaten by the Uni-President Lions. He underwent right ankle surgery, so he missed the first half of the 2021 season. He played 71 games with a .210/.276/.276 batting line that year. In the 2021 Taiwan Series, Yueh hit .364/.500/.636 and he won his first Taiwan Series title as the Brothers swept the Lions. He also homered off Tim Melville in Game 2, and he and his brother Cheng-Hua Yueh became the first brothers to go deep in the same contest in the Taiwan Series.
The Yilan native hit .241/.305/.309 in 2022 as a second baseman, and he was selected into the 2022 CPBL All-Star Game; he was 3-for-8. Yueh hit .417/.533/.417 in the 2022 Taiwan Series, and the Brothers won the title again as they swept the Rakuten Monkeys. Yueh had a severe ankle injury on July 23, 2023, so he only played 82 games with a .223/.339/.299 batting line in 2023.
