Biographical Information

Trayvon Robinson was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers out of high school in the 10th round of the 2005 Amateur Draft. He was signed by scout Bobby Darwin and made his pro debut that summer.

On July 31, 2011, Robinson was traded to the Seattle Mariners as part of a three-way trade in which the Boston Red Sox acquired left-handed pitcher Erik Bedard. Robinson was called up to the big leagues on August 5th and was inserted into the starting lineup, playing left field and batting ninth. He went 1 for 3, getting his first hit - a single - off Jered Weaver of the Los Angeles Angels. His first home run came on August 6th, an opposite field blast off Tyler Chatwood.

Trayvon Robinson was the first graduate of Major League Baseball's "Urban Youth Academy" in Compton, CA to reach the major leagues, beating Efren Navarro by a few weeks. The Academy, run by former major leaguer Darrell Miller provides coaching and training facilities for high schoolers who have graduated from the "Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities" program, and orients them towards attending college or making a career in organized baseball.
