Biographical Information[edit]

Travis Mortimore began his professional career in 2007 and played through 2010.

Mortimore was twice All-Conference in basketball, football and track in high school. He was picked by the Seattle Mariners in the 21st round of the 2007 amateur draft. He pitched for the AZL Mariners (3-1, 10 Sv, 1.91, 43 K in 37 2/3 IP) and made one appearance with the AAA Tacoma Rainiers (1 R in 1 1/3 IP). He led the Arizona League in saves and appearances (27) and was named the league's All-Star left-handed relief pitcher.

The big southpaw was untouchable for the first half of 2008, going 2-1 with a 0.53 ERA in 22 games for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Opponents hit just .131 with no homers in 34 innings. Promoted to the High Desert Mavericks, he was used as a starter and bombed, going 1-5 with a 7.87 ERA, .336 opponent average and 34 walks in 58 1/3 IP for a WHIP over 2.

Back with High Desert in 2009, Travis was 2-5 with a save, .341 opponent average and a 7.07 ERA despite moving back to the bullpen. He opened 2010 with High Desert and surrendered 14 runs in his first 14 innings, the only innings he would toss that year.

Overall, Mortimore was 8-14 with a 5.38 ERA in 121 games (15 starts) over four seasons.
