Biographical Information

Second baseman Tony Renda began his professional career in 2012.

He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 42nd round of the 2009 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. He did ink a contract after being taken in the second round of the 2012 amateur draft by the Washington Nationals, a couple of picks ahead of pitcher Paco Rodriguez.

With the Auburn Doubledays in 2009, Renda hit .264/.341/.295 with 15 stolen bases and 78 hits in 71 games. In 2013, he hit .294/.380/.405 with with 43 doubles, 30 stolen bases, 99 runs scored for the Hagerstown Suns and in 2014, he batted .307/.381/.377 with 19 stolen bases in 107 games for the Potomac Nationals.

He was an MiLB.com Organization All-Star in 2013 and 2014, an AFL Rising Star in 2014, a Mid-Season All-Star in 2013, a Post-Season All-Star in 2014 and an AFL All-Prospect Team choice in 2014. On June 11, 2015, he was traded to the New York Yankees in return for P David Carpenter He had started the season with the Harrisburg Senators of the AA Eastern League, where he hit .267 in 54 games and after the trades stayed in the same circuit but with the Trenton Thunder, playing an additional 73 games during which he hit .270. Between the two stops, his combined batting line read .269/.330/.358 in 127 games, with 30 doubles and 73 runs scored. On December 28th, he was traded again, this time to the Cincinnati Reds along with fellow prospects Caleb Cotham, Rookie Davis and Eric Jagielo in return for P Aroldis Chapman.
