Biographical Information[edit]
Tomoya Noguchi has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Noguchi was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in the second round of the 2021 NPB draft. [1] He hit .226/.277/.284 as a backup behind shortstop Kotaro Kurebayashi in 2022, and the Buffaloes won the Pacific League pennant. He hit a single against Naofumi Kizawa of the Yakult Swallows in 2022 Nippon Series Game 6, then went 0-for-1 in Game 7. The Buffaloes beat the Swallows, and Noguchi won his first Nippon Series title.
He then hit .226/.306/.327 with 2 homers in 76 games in 2023. Noguchi was 1-for-3, with a single off Taiki Tojo of the Chiba Lotte Marines in Game 3 of the final stage in the 2023 PLCS, and helped the Buffaloes advanced to the 2023 Nippon Series. He was 1-for-3 in Game 1, then went 2-for-3, with a RBI single against Yuki Nishi in Game 2. He was 1-for-6 in the rest of the series, and the Hanshin Tigers beat the Buffaloes in 7 games. [2]
The Nara native then made it onto Japan's roster for the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. His only appearance was against Australia, and he was 0-for-4 with a walk. Japan beat South Korea in the title game and won Gold. [3]
