Tommy Korczowski peaked at AAA.
Tommy was a tailback and quarterback at William & Mary in college. Turning pro in baseball with the 1949 Trenton Giants, he hit .271/?/.323 in 59 games. The next year with Trenton, he improved to .304/.396/.461 with 98 runs, 45 doubles and 12 triples. He made the Interstate League top 10 in average and slugging, easily led in doubles (11 ahead of runner-up Jesse Levan), was 3rd in runs (only 3 shy of the lead), was 4th in hits (163) and tied for 4th in triples. He led league shortstops in assists (425), putouts (270) and double plays (89) while he was second in errors (56). He missed 1951-1952 due to military service. Returning in 1953, he appeared for both the Nashville Volunteers (11 for 62, 2 2B,7 BB, 8 E) and Wilkes-Barre Barons (.285/.334/.406 in 133 G, .944 fielding percentage at SS).
In the 1953 Rule V Draft, Korczowski was claimed by the Cleveland Indians. He failed to make the team and bounced around that summer, with stints for the Indianapolis Indians (0 for 11), Tulsa Oilers (1 G) and Memphis Chickasaws (8 G). He ended his career with the 1955 Norfolk Tars, batting .251/?/.355 in 72 games.
