- 1966 - With Emperor Hirohito in attendance, Shigeo Nagashima collects three hits, including a homer, in an exhibition game against the Dodgers.
- 1974 - Mike Marshall (pictured) wins the 1974 National League Cy Young Award. He is the first reliever in either league to win a Cy Young Award.
- 1996 - Todd Hollandsworth becomes the fifth straight Los Angeles Dodgers player to win the National League Rookie of the Year Award.
- 1997 - The Milwaukee Brewers will join the National League next year, giving Milwaukee its first NL team since the 1960s.
- 2000 - 32-year-old Kazuhiro Sasaki wins the 2000 American League Rookie of the Year Award, becoming the second-oldest Rookie of the Year ever, following Sam Jethroe.
