- 1922 - For the only time in his career, Ty Cobb is pinch-hit for. The player-manager lets Fats Fothergill bat for him, and Fothergill strikes out.
- 1925 - Everett Scott (pictured) has his record consecutive game streak end at 1,307. Lou Gehrig will later break his mark.
- 1938 - Hal Kelleher allows 12 runs to the Cubs in the 6th inning, a National League record for runs in an inning off one hurler.
- 1949 - Charlie Gehringer is voted into the Hall of Fame.
- 2004 - Mike Piazza hits his 352nd home run as a catcher, breaking Johnny Bench's record for the position.
