- 1935 - Babe Ruth hits the final three home runs of his career. One of them is the first ball to go over the right-field wall in the 26-year history of Forbes Field.
- 1956 - Tommy Brown of the Nashville Volunteers reaches base for the 20th consecutive time. It is believed to be an Organized Baseball record.
- 1981 - Bill Stein (pictured) sets an American League record with his seventh consecutive pinch-hit.
- 1989 - In an attempt to shore up their staff for a pennant run, the Montréal Expos make a trade that looks horrible in retrospect, acquiring Mark Langston from the Seattle Mariners but giving up Randy Johnson, Brian Holman and Gene Harris. The Expos will also get player to be named later Mike Campbell, who will never appear in a game for them. Langston will win 12 games for the Expos, Johnson 130 for Seattle.
- 2006 - Rick Guttormson throws the first no-hitter in Nippon Pro Baseball interleague play, beating the Rakuten Golden Eagles, 6-0.
