December 27: Today's featured birthday is that of Bobby Klaus, who turns 87.
- 1936 - Kiki Cuyler hits safely in eight straight at-bats in a doubleheader.
- 1959 - The Southern Association bans Chattanooga Lookouts 1B Jesse Levan for life for working with gamblers to throw games.
- 1968 - Ron Hansen (pictured) turns the eighth unassisted triple play in big league history. All five in the American League have involved the Indians.
- 1980 - J.R. Richard suffers a stroke and is rushed to the hospital. He will never pitch again.
- 1996 - The Mariners trade platoon outfielder Darren Bragg to the Red Sox for left-handed pitcher Jamie Moyer. Thinking they are acquiring a fourth or fifth starter, the M's will keep Moyer into 2006, by which time he will have broken Randy Johnson's franchise records for most games won and innings pitched.
