- 1909 - Neal Ball turns the first unassisted triple play of the 20th Century in the majors, snaring a liner by Amby McConnell, stepping on second to force Heinie Wagner then tagging out Jake Stahl.
- 1911 - Walter Carlisle of the Vernon Tigers turns an unassisted triple play; it is noteworthy because Carlisle is an outfielder. Carlisle catches Roy Akin's liner, tags second then runs to first to get that runner as well.

- 1992 - Atsuya Furuta hits for the cycle, the first player to do so in a NPB All-Star Game. He wins his second All-Star Game MVP award.
- 2001 - Randy Johnson sets a MLB record with 16 strikeouts in a relief appearance, working 7 innings in a game that had been suspended after two innings the night before.
