- 1932 - Eddie Rommel gives up a record 29 hits in a 17-inning relief appearance, but his Athletics beat the Indians 18-17 in 18 innings. Johnny Burnett (pictured) has a major league-record 9 hits in the contest.
- 1934 - In the second All-Star Game ever, Carl Hubbell strikes out five consecutive future Hall of Famers - Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons and Joe Cronin. The NL still loses, 9-7.
- 1935 - Ed Cole throws the first perfect game in Texas League history, blanking the Tulsa Oilers.
- 1984 - On the 50th anniversary of Hubbell's legendary game, Fernando Valenzuela and Dwight Gooden whiff six straight AL All-Stars - Dave Winfield, Reggie Jackson, George Brett, Lance Parrish, Chet Lemon and Alvin Davis - in the 1984 All-Star Game.
- 2001 - Hideki Matsui reaches base for the 51st straight game, a Central League record.
