- 1937 - Connie Mack, John McGraw, Morgan Bulkeley, Ban Johnson and George Wright are elected to the Hall of Fame by the Centennial Commission.
- 1939 - Lou Gehrig is voted into the Hall of Fame in a special election.
- 1973 - The San Francisco Giants sell long-time star Juan Marichal to the Boston Red Sox, ending a 14-year run with the Giants.
- 1984 - The New York Mets acquire Howard Johnson (pictured) from the Detroit Tigers for Walt Terrell.
- 2001 - The Toronto Blue Jays pick up Eric Hinske and Justin Miller from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for Billy Koch. Hinske will be named AL Rookie of the Year in 2002.
