- 1935 - The Philadelphia Athletics trade Jimmie Foxx and Johnny Marcum to the Boston Red Sox for Gordon Rhodes, George Savino and $150,000.
- 1935 - The Osaka Tigers are formed. They are Japan's second professional baseball team.
- 1950 - The 1950 Amateur World Series wraps up with the Dominican national team taking the title. Later review will result in the Puerto Rican national team being punished for using professional players, and result in the title going to Cuba.
- 1967 - Pat Dobson (pictured) strikes out 21 batters in a Puerto Rican League contest.
- 1971 - The California Angels acquire Nolan Ryan and three other players from the New York Mets for Jim Fregosi.
- 1972 - The American League votes to approve the Designated Hitter rule.
