On December 10, 1935 the Philadelphia Athletics traded Jimmie Foxx and Johnny Marcum to the Boston Red Sox for Gordon Rhodes, Savino and $150,000.
Savino was sent to the Baltimore Orioles (IL) in the deal on May 13, 1936, when Eddie Mayo was traded by Baltimore to the New York Giants for Joe Martin. Savino had been on option by the A's to the Albany Senators. On May 20, 1937 he was sent from Baltimore to the Buffalo Bisons for Buck Crouse, who became Baltimore's manager. He was later traded to Dallas for Beryl Richmond. He managed the Bradford Blue Wings in 1947-1948 and the Vandergrift Pioneers in 1949.
Savino moved to Nutley, NJ in 1927 and opened Savino's Sports Store in that city after his playing career [1].
