- 1938 - Virgil Trucks of the Andalusia Bulldogs strikes out his final batter of the year. It is his 418th strikeout, the minor league record for a year.
- 1951 - Bill Veeck lets the fans manage the team; his Browns win, 5-3. The fans opt to put backup C Sherm Lollar in the starting line-up; he responds with 3 hits including a home run.
- 1975 - Davey Lopes (pictured) steals his 38th base in 38 tries, a then-major league record, before being thrown out by Gary Carter in the 12th inning.
- 1982 - John Wathan sets the 20th Century record for steals by a catcher, breaking a 66-year-old mark held by Ray Schalk, when Wathan pilfers his 31st.
- 1989 - Bart Giamatti bans Pete Rose from Organized Baseball for life. For years, some in the media will defend Rose, but in a book published 15 years later, Pete will admit to gambling.
