Biographical Information[edit]
Tao Zhang has played in the China Baseball League and in the independent leagues.
Zhang was with the Beijing Tigers in the CBL. In 2018, he was sent to the US to play for the Texas AirHogs as part of an agreement between the AirHogs and Chinese baseball. He was 3-3 with a 5.83 ERA in 2018, then he improved to 4-6 with a 4.02 ERA in 2019. He then represented China in the 2019 Asian Championship. Zhang debuted against South Korea, and he only allowed a run in 3 innings to help China beat their opponent in extra innings. He then relieved Quan Gan versus the Philippines, and he retired Jonash Ponce and Ferdinand Liguayan Jr.. Zhang pitched against South Korea again in the Bronze Medal game, and he got the win over Jae-min Kang. China got their second Medal in the Asian Championship with this historic win.
