Biographical Information[edit]

Tao-Jung Tseng played in the CPBL.

Tseng was drafted by the CTBC Brothers in the 10th round of the 2015 CPBL Draft, and he spent his first two seasons primarily in the minor league, only playing 28 games combined in the top league.[1] He hit .444/.497/.781 with 13 homers in the minors in 2016, and led the league in batting average. The Brothers named him one of their regular starting outfielders in 2017, and he hit .267/.354/.506 with 15 homers. Tseng led the league in strikeouts and ranked 12th in homers (16 behind Po-Jung Wang). He also became the first player in CPBL annals to hit homers in 4 straight at-bats, which he did on May 6. Tseng was selected into the 2017 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 1-for-3 with a double. In the 2017 Taiwan Series, Tseng was 1-for-2, with a double against Zack Segovia, and the Lamigo Monkeys beat the Brothers in 4 games.

However, due to his high K%, the Brothers tended to use Wei-Chen Wang instead of Tseng in 2018, so he only played 22 games with a .167/.225/.306 batting line. He completely lost his spot in 2019, and he only played 30 games. The Wei-Chuan Dragons then selected him in the expansion draft. Tseng hit .375/.449/.725 with 12 homers in the minors with the Dragons in 2020 (they did not play in the majors that year), then he had a .231/.304/.394 batting line with 6 homers in 2021. He was selected into the 2022 CPBL All-Star Games, and he had a 1-for-5 line with a single against Chun-Lin Kuo in the 4th inning of Game 2. Tseng ended up hitting .190/.304/.253 this season. He was demoted in 2023, and he only played 15 games with the big club before the Dragons released him.
