Which Harry Smith scouted him? - --Mischa 09:13, 21 October 2009 (EDT)

I don't know where SABR got the info that Veres died November 7, but I do not believe it is correct. Alexsautographs (talk) 00:54, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

According to the Jan/Feb Biographical Research Committee Report, the source of the info was a friend of Randy's. If you have more reliable information, I'll be glad to pass it on to Bill Carle, the committee's president. --Philippe (talk) 02:49, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

I'm the one who broke the news of Veres' passing to SABR and was only aware of a Tweet mentioning his death and someone in the autograph community reporting it. I saw that the date and place of death SABR have were on Wikipedia -- I sincerely hope SABR isn't stooping to relying on unsourced Wikipedia info to fill in their information. Anywho this link: [1] says it was the 13th. Alexsautographs (talk) 12:40, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

Researchers on the Bio Committee are amazingly thorough. I very much doubt they would rely on something as flimsy as a wikipedia entry. They will often contact relatives and funeral homes to verify information for recently deceased players, so a knowledgeable friend would seem a likely source. You can get in touch with Bill directly though. Write me an email (see my personal page) and I'll send you his coordinates. --Philippe (talk) 13:43, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

I post to a Yahoo Group that Bill Carle is a member of (along with Jack Morris, Rod Nelson, etc) so he gets the information I post. I'm fairly well-versed in the realm of baseball death happenings since I've uncovered and/or confirmed the occurrence of a handful myself (including but not limited to Windy McCall, Tommy Moore, Neil Wilson, John Braun and Bob Schmidt). I'm not bragging, but I'm just trying to illustrate that I'm not just some guy throwing random information out there ... death research is what I do. The March/April SABR Bio Committee bulletin now lists November 13, so I'm changing it. --Philippe (talk) 02:29, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

And apparently it was suicide. But I can't find anything else about it. Jeff (talk) 01:51, 14 November 2020 (UTC)
