Talk:Lou Gehrig

From BR Bullpen

I'm not sure that the severity of Gehrig's illness was commonly known at the time of his retirement, so it may not be correct to say that people knew he was dying at the time of his farewell speech. --Roger 19:34, 10 Mar 2006 (EST)

Upon further reading it looks like Eleanor knew Lou was dying but Lou was distinctly unaware except that he had a type of paralysis. I'll change it once I figure out how I can reword it. --Scott 23:29, 10 Mar 2006 (EST)

Rawhide is interesting to watch. Typical cowboy movie, about an hour long. He just looks so silly in that hat! Oaktree_b 21:52, 30 December 2011 (EST)

Is "Lou gehrig's RBI Record: Striving Ro Get It Right Thanks to 40 Years of Reseacrh by SABR Members" the actual title with plays on typos with 'getting it right' or was it entered wrong? - --Mischa 12:15, 30 April 2012 (EDT)

I would've thought greatest first baseman ever is more up for grabs - is Gehrig that much of a consensus pick over Pujols, Foxx, etc.? - Mischa (talk) 18:49, 31 May 2024 (UTC)

I would definitely shy away from such verbiage. We're not here to declare those things. We're here to record history. Jeff (talk) 19:14, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
I think it's okay if it's clear-cut - Mischa (talk) 20:07, 31 May 2024 (UTC)

The Iron Horse leads the position in WAR, Peak WAR, JAWS, WAA, oWAR, OPS, SLG, and basically everything else. It seems fine to me. -Umbreon9talk/contribs 15:44, 2 June 2024 (UTC)

I tend to agree. This is a case where it's clear-cut. Philippe (talk) 17:00, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
