Talk:Kun-Yu Chiang
The Taiwan Baseball Wiki lists 10 nicknames. Impressive for a 22-year-old. No idea how many are used with any regularity - Mischa (talk) 17:32, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
Only the first two are most common, greeting from Taiwan--Rugosa1134 (talk) 15:54, 4 March 2023 (UTC)
Glad to see a contributor from Taiwan. If you can translate for them, feel free to add them to the bio. Any help with translations would be appreciated - ex. Taiwan's team for the 1962 Asian Championship (Rosters) - Mischa (talk) 00:57, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
OK,I can help translating them. But I noticed that some translate is not unanimous. For Example Shui-Chuan Fang(方水泉) and Quan-Rong Gao(高泉榮)both have 泉,but the first one used Wade–Giles, and second one use Hanyu Pinyin.I suggest all used Wade–Giles as it's the official system in Taiwan.Thus,Quan-Rong Gao should replaced by Chuan-Jung Kao
I think it makes sense to use the one in place in Taiwan. We generally prefer using the local preferences for transliteration; so Chinese players use the Chinese transliteration name whereas Taiwanese players don't. Not being an expert, I sometimes have wound up using less preferred names, because that's what I was able to piece together. Or the IBAF old site was not always inconsistent in places. Feel free to correct. As you get to more recent events, I think our transliterations have gotten better. Here are some others where we are missing transliterations: - Mischa (talk) 15:12, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
Translate is complete. There is two player that has the same nameYi-Hsin Chen,I used Wade–Giles to translate the shortstop one as I-Hsin Chen--Rugosa1134 (talk) 16:36, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for all that help! Feel free to add any other contributions about Taiwanese baseball. As you can tell, we have a number of red links or incomplete pages in addition to all the complete or fairly complete ones. - Mischa (talk) 18:36, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
