Talk:Halifax, NS
Interesting that Halifax is the largest city never to have had a pro baseball team. I guess that's because Halifax is so far from other big Canadian cities. New Brunswick has had few pro teams, and so any Halifax team would have had to spend a whole lot of time traveling to Quebec City or Trois Rivieres to find an opponent. And traveling to the US might not have been that quick either, 100-150 years ago. Halifax is a hockey town, but so are many other Canadian towns that do have pro baseball. Quebec City's first pro team was in 1923. Randy (talk) 20:09, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
Yes, the problem is that it's quite isolated, with few other towns of similar size nearby that would justify the travel costs. Still, it seems strange that no one tried to organize a Maritimes league at some point with Halifax, Fredericton, St. John, NB and Moncton as its main cities. It's not any more far-fetched than many minor leagues that did exist for a while. Philippe (talk) 12:45, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
