So a team like this that played in the 1920-1948 Negro Leagues as well as the pre-league era should now get both the Teams and Negro League Teams categories? - Mischa (talk) 15:01, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

That sounds right. And apparently all the players are now major league players and Negro League players. For a guy like Satchel Paige, it will significantly change his major league stats. -Randy (talk) 15:13, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

Do people still keep the Negro League players category if they played only in the 1920-1948 now-major-league era. So:

In addition, then, Roy Roberts (Negro Leagues) would become simply Roy Roberts while the guy we have as Roy Roberts would become Roy Roberts (umpire)??? - Mischa (talk) 15:42, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

I would give players both the Player and Negro Leagues Players category if they played in 1920-1948 era (not sure what you mean about Ernie Banks, however). There are going to be a lot of things to work out, but it's all for the better. And yes, in cases of disambiguation, a Negro League major leaguer now gets primary dibs on the name, and the others adapt, like we do for other major leaguers. If the Negro Leagues are major leagues, why do they need two categories (Player and Negro League Player) for the same season in the 1920-1948 period? It seems redundant. We don't list "American League Players" and "Player" for Lloyd Moseby; Negro League Players should then be for players who were in the Negro Leagues in their "non-major leaguee" era, I would think. - Mischa (talk) 16:22, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
Because the change is only just happening and it will take some time to adjust our minds to it. Given the fluid nature of the Negro Leagues, it's also likely that, at some point of their careers, most players will have played for teams other than those granted major league status.
