Biographical Information[edit]
Takashige Kanehiko played in Nippon Pro Baseball and managed in Korea Baseball Organization.
Kanehiko was signed by the Nankai Hawks in 1956, and he went 6-6 with a 3.09 ERA in his rookie year. He had a 3.42 ERA in 8 games in 1960, then his ERA was 5.34 in 15 games in 1962 after he spent the entire 1961 season in the minors. Kanehiko only pitched one game with the big club in 1963, then he left the team and returned to Korea. He represented South Korea in the 1965 Asian Championship, 1967 Asian Championship and 1971 Asian Championship. He then coached Jangchung High School in 1977 and Bugil Academy from 1978 to 1981.
When the KBO was founded in 1982, Kim was named the manager of the OB Bears, and he led the Bears to the 1982 Korean Series as the first league champs. However, when their ace Cheol-sun Park was injured in 1983, OB's winning percentage fell to .440 and he resigned. Kim then went to the Samsung Lions as their manager from 1984 to 1986, and he managed the Binggrae Eagles from 1988 to 1993. Kim was the pitching coach of the LG Twins in 1996, and he managed their minor league team from 1997 to 1998.
