Biographical Information[edit]

Taek-hyeong Kim pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization.

Kim was drafted by the Nexen Heroes in the 2nd round of the 2015 KBO draft, and his ERA was 7.91 in 37 appearances with 2 holds in his first season. He got his first career win on March 28 against the Hanwha Eagles, and he was the first player straight from high school to get the win on opening day of his rookie season. Kim struggled again in 2016 as his ERA was 7.62 in 32 games with 8 holds, and he missed the entire 2017 season due to Tommy John surgery. The Heroes then traded him to the SK Wyverns for Seong-min Kim. Kim allowed 10 runs in 11 2/3 innings in 2018, and he pitched 2/3 of an inning in the 2018 Korean Series with a run allowed. His ERA was 5.79 in 26 games in 2019, and he pitched 31 games with a 8.61 ERA in 2020.

The Incheon native finally broke out in 2021, and he notched 7 saves and 10 holds in 59 relief outings. On April 2, 2022, he succeeded Wilmer Font after he pitched a 9-inning perfect game, and he completed the 10th inning without allowing a hit; a walk to Ah-seop Son prevented the perfect game. Kim ended up collecting 17 saves and 10 holds that season, but his ERA rose to 4.92 in 64 appearances. He was 8th in saves, tied with Won-jung Kim. Kim shined in the 2022 Korean Series, and he pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings with a hold and a win in Game 3. The SSG Landers beat the Heroes in 6 games, and Kim won his second title. He then missed most of the next two seasons due to military service, and he pitched 6 games with a 9.00 ERA in 2024 after returning.
