Biographical Information[edit]
Estuar Ruiz was a minor league infielder who later was a scout and coach.
Ruiz went 7 for 34 with a double and five walks for the 1990 Bluefield Orioles while fielding .896 at his main position, 2B. He improved to .257/.292/.280 with 11 steals in 17 tries for the same club in '91, fielding .893 as their main shortstop. In 1991-1992, he was 6 for 52 for the Caribes de Anzoategui in the Venezuelan League. Ruiz hit .195/.236/.214 in 77 games for the 1992 Kane County Cougars while fielding .927 at SS. Overall, he hit .222/.265/.243 in 146 minor league games, with 18 steals in 25 attempts. He fielded .931 and pitched 1/3 of an inning, with 3 walks, a hit, a wild pitch and two runs. He was 0 for 5 for the Caribes in both 1992-1993 and 1993-1994 to end his Venezuelan League career with a .097 average.
Ruiz later was a scout in Venezuela, signing Hector Rondon for the Cleveland Indians. He coached for the DSL Indians and was coaching for the VSL Mariners in 2012. Ruiz managed the DSL Cardinals Red in 2021.
