Biographical Information[edit]

Steve Nichols played and was an assistant coach at Florida Southern College in 1979-1983 and the University of Florida in 1984-1987. He also spent one year as a graduate assistant at Georgia Southern University (1978?). He later scouted in Florida for the Detroit Tigers, signing Matt Joyce, Andrew Kown, Ryan Raburn, Tyler Stohr and Mark Woodyard. He then moved to the New York Mets and signed Jacob deGrom and Jonathan Kountis.

He is the son of Chet Nichols and the grandson of Chet Nichols, who were both major league pitchers.
