Biographical Information[edit]
Steve Lyons was a minor league pitcher for three years and has been a coach in the Cleveland Indians farm system since 1998. He has been the pitching coach of the Akron Aeros since 2003
Lyons was drafted in the fourth round of the 1992 amateur draft by the New York Mets with the 105th pick. In his three seasons in the Mets organization, he compilied a 19-25 record with a 4.14 ERA. He then retired due to an elbow injury.
Lyons started his minor league coaching career in 1998 with the New York-Penn League's Watertown Indians as the team's pitching coach. He moved with the team to Niles, OH when they became the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. Lyons joined the A-Advanced Kinston Indians' staff for the 2000 and 2001 seasons. He was with the Columbus Red Stixx (A) in 2002. Lyons joined the Akron Aeros to replace coach Terry Clark, who was promoted to AAA Buffalo. He returned to Kinston as Pitching coach in 2005-2006. Lyons was the pitching coach of the GCL Indians in 2007-2008. He was a professional scout for Cleveland in 2009-2010.
He was the pitching coach for the Águilas Cibaeñas of the Dominican Winter League in the 2005/2006 season.
