Biographical Information[edit]

Stepan Rubanov was on the USSR national team in the 1990 Goodwill Games. [1] In the 1991 Intercontinental Cup, he started at 2B for the USSR and hit .120/.214/.200 with 3 runs and 2 RBI in 9 games, fielding .900; he tied Yevgeny Puchkov for 3rd on the USSR in runs. [2] He started at first for the Russian national team in the 1993 European Championship, batting .280/.333/.320 with 2 runs and 3 RBI in 7 games. He went 4-for-4 in steal attempts and fielded .979. He tied Rudi Brouwers, Oscar Rebolleda, Anthony Meurant, Andrei Protasov, Antonio Salazar, Johnny Balentina and Paul Spoelders for 8th in the event in swipes. [3]
