Biographical Information

Óscar Rebolleda spent about a decade with the Spanish national team.

Rebolleda helped Spain win the Bronze Medal at the 1987 European Championship. In the 1988 Baseball World Cup, he went just 2 for 20 with a walk and 7 strikeouts, producing no runs. He had 8 errors at third base, fielding only .724. He was with Spain when they won Bronze in the 1989 European Championship and 1991 European Championship. As a LF-3B in the 1991 Intercontinental Cup, the Vizcaya native hit .273/.407/.318 with nine runs in six games.

Óscar was Spain's left fielder and #3 batter in the 1992 Olympics. He hit .227/.227/.500 and tied Félix Cano for the Spanish lead with two home runs. He cracked a 3-run bomb off Italy's Paolo Ceccaroli and a solo shot against Tomohito Ito. In Spain's only Olympic win, 7-6 over Puerto Rico, he went 2 for 4 with a run.

Rebolleda was back in left field for Spain in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup, hitting .250/.323/.429. He tied Francisco Aristu for second on the club in average and tied Javier Diez for the slugging lead. He led Spain with 6 runs and 4 RBI in his eight games. He also pitched five games, most on the team, throwing four shutout innings on a club with a 8.04 cumulative ERA.

During the 1993 European Championship, he hit .355/.447/.419 with 8 runs in 8 games. He had 11 putouts, an assist and no errors in left, stole four bases without being caught and even threw 2/3 shutout innings. He tied for 7th in the event in steals.

The former Olympian was 12 for 27 with two walks, 6 steals (in six tries) and 7 RBI in the 1995 European Championship. He was the lone Spaniard picked for the All-Star Team, joining Italy's Roberto De Franceschi and France's Arnaud Fau in the outfield. He tied Eric de Bruin and Rickard Reimer for 10th in average, tied Adonis Kemp for 5th in steals and tied for sixth with two home runs.
