Southern States Conference
The Southern States Conference was an NAIA conference from the 1930s to 1996. After the departures of Belhaven, Spring Hill, and Wiliam Carey following the 1980-1981 school year to form the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, the conference effectively was the NAIA's District 27, and the District 27 tournament was essentially the conference's championship tournament from 1982 to 1994.
