Biographical Information[edit]

Shota Suzuki has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Suzuki was drafted by the Chiba Lotte Marines and the Yakult Swallows in the first round of the 2020 NPB draft, and the Marines won the lottery for the right to him.[1] He was 1-4 with a 4.08 ERA in , and he pitched 1/3 of a shutout inning in 2021 PLCS final stage Game 1; the Orix Buffaloes swept the Marines. Suzuki struggled in 2022 as hs allowed 10 runs in 12 1/3 innings, then he had a 2.76 ERA in 13 games in 2023. In the 2023 PLCS, Suzuki pitched 2 2/3 shutout innings in First Stage Game 2, then he allowed a run in an inning in Final Stage Game 1. The Buffaloes beat the Marines again in 4 games. Suzuki was then selected into the 2024 NPB All-Star Game, and he relieved Andres Machado in the 6th inning of Game 2. He retired Hideki Nagaoka, but Ryuki Watarai added a single and Shogo Sakakura reached base due to Shuta Tonosaki's error. Suzuki still forced Koji Chikamoto to ground out, and he made Shugo Maki hit a fly ball to end his work; Yuki Matsumoto replaced him. [2]

Suzuki's repertoire features a fastball that peaks at 95.1 mph and a forkball.
