Biographical Information[edit]
Hideki Nagaoka has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Nagaoka was drafted by the Tokyo Yakult Swallows in the 5th round of the 2019 NPB draft.[1] He debuted on October 23, 2020, and collected his first career hit off Nobutaka Imamura on October 30.[2] Nagaoka spent his first two career years in the NPB Farm Leagues, only played 6 and 5 games respectively. In 2022, Nagaoka took the regular shortstop spot with a hot spring training. He batted .241/.273/.337, and won the NPB Gold Glove Award as a shortstop. He also played in the 2022 NPB All-Star Games, was third in voting for the 2022 Central League Rookie of the Year Award [3] and even got two third-place votes for the 2022 CL MVP. [4] He hit .154/.185/.154 in the 2022 Japan Series as Yakult failed to repeat, losing to the Orix Buffaloes. [5]
