Biographical Information

Hideki Nagaoka has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Nagaoka was drafted by the Tokyo Yakult Swallows in the 5th round of the 2019 NPB draft. He debuted on October 23, 2020, and collected his first career hit off Nobutaka Imamura on October 30. Nagaoka spent his first two career years in the NPB Farm Leagues, only played 6 and 5 games respectively. In 2022, Nagaoka took the regular shortstop spot with a hot spring training. He batted .241/.273/.337, and won the NPB Gold Glove Award as a shortstop. He also played in the 2022 NPB All-Star Games, was third in voting for the 2022 Central League Rookie of the Year Award and even got two third-place votes for the 2022 CL MVP. He hit .154/.185/.154 in the 2022 Japan Series as Yakult failed to repeat, losing to the Orix Buffaloes.
