Biographical Information[edit]

Shon Ashley attended Meridan High School in Boise, ID where he primarily played shortstop and was a baseball phenom. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the third round of the 1985 amateur draft (55th overall pick). He made his professional debut with the Helena Gold Sox of the Pioneer League at Rookie Level that summer at age 18, hitting .295 in 46 games with the Gold Sox. Shon moved up to low A, by playing for the Beloit Brewers of the Midwest League the next two seasons, and belted 12 homers for Beloit in 1987. He also played for the Stockton Ports (A+) of the California League in 1988, the El Paso Diablos (AA) of the Texas League from 1989 to 1991, and the Indianapolis Indians (AAA) of the American Association in 1992. Ashley played a total of eight seasons in the minor leagues. His overall numbers: 811 games, 2833 at-bats, 446 runs, 777 hits, 165 doubles, 24 triples, 78 homers, 49 stolen-bases, 342 walks, 667 strike-outs, 30 hit-by-pitches, .432 slugging, and a .274 batting average.
