Biographical Information[edit]
Shingo Maeda played for the Japanese national team and in Nippon Pro Baseball.
In the 2001 Baseball World Cup, he backed up three future NPB regulars - Tadahito Iguchi at 2B, Akihiro Higashide at 3B and Hirokazu Ibata at SS. He was 4 for 11 with a double, two runs and four RBI, handling 14 chances error-free. [1] He won Bronze with Japan in the 2001 Asian Championship [2]. The Chunichi Dragons took him in the 5th round of the 2001 NPB draft. [3] He was retired by Yasushi Tsuruta his first at-bat in the Central League and was 0 for 4 in 2002, backing up Ibata at short. [4]
Playing for Japan the 2002 Asian Games, he was 3 for 3 with two RBI for the Bronze Medal winners, backing up Toshiyuki Kitagawa at second and Keiichi Hirano at short. [5] That kind of success eluded him as a pro. He was 0 for 9 in 2003, backing up Kazuyoshi Tatsunami at third. In 2004, he was 0 for 3 to finish his CL career at 0-for-16. He later was Chunichi's scorer. [6]
