Biographical Information[edit]

Shih-Yang Teng played in the CPBL and for the Chinese Taipei national baseball team.

Teng represented Taiwan in the 1997 World Junior Championship, 1998 Baseball World Cup (1 for 10, BB, 2 R; 10 chances without an error as a backup infielder), 1999 World Port Tournament and 1999 Asian Championship. The Macoto Cobras drafted him in the first round of the 2004 CPBL Draft. Teng hit .235/.278/.283 and was selected into the All-Star Game as a rookie. He improved his performance, hitting .290/.338/.358 with career-high 39 RBI in 2005. Teng declined to .244/.285/.308 the next year, but bounced back in 2007. He blasted a career-high 9 dingers with a .296/.360/.456 batting line this season. The Taichung native .273/.311/.354 in the 2008, and extend his All-Star selection streak to five years.

When the dMedia T-Rex (the former Cobras) was expelled from the league in 2008 due to a game-fixing scandal, the Sinon Bulls picked Teng up. He recorded a .303/.339/.382 batting line in the first year with the Bulls. However, Teng only batted .245/.315/.255 and .250/.283/.304 respectively in the next two years, and the Bulls released him after the 2011 season. Teng became a college coach and coached Meiho University from 2015 to 2022. The TSG Hawks signed Teng and he served as their defense coach in 2023.

Overall, Teng had hit .273/.321/.353 in eight seasons in the CPBL.
