Biographical Information[edit]

Shigeo Mori managed in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.

Mori was hired as the manager of the Osaka Tigers when they were founded in 1935, but he was soon fired in the middle of the 1936 season because they lost to Hankyu by a big gap. The Korakuen Eagles then signed him as their manager, and he led the Eagles for 3 years. He sometimes used himself as a pinch-hitter, but he didn't get any hits in his 4 at-bats. Mori then coached Waseda University from 1947 to 1957, and helped them win 9 pennants in the Tokyo Big6 Baseball League. That's the most in the school's history. He also managed the Taiyo Whales in 1959, but Osamu Mihara succeed him soon in 1960. Mori was inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977.

Overall, Mori was 160-246-15 as a manager in 5 years in NPB, having achieved his biggest success at the amateur level.
