Biographical Information[edit]

Ryutaro Tsuji has played in Nippon Pro Baseball and the Japanese national team. His father is NPB infielder Tetsuya Tsuji.

Tsuji represented Japan in the 2001 Asian Championship. The Orix BlueWave selected him in the eighth round of the 2001 NPB draft. Tsuji only hit .214/.267/.286 in his rookie year, and he improved to .253/.282/.412 in 2003. The Osaka native recorded a career-best .325/.382/.431 in 2004. When the Rakuten Golden Eagles was founded in 2005, Tsuji was assigned to Rakuten instead of staying in the Orix. He only played 31 games in 2005, and even got just 13 appearances with the big club in the next two years. The Golden Eagles released him after the 2007 season. He joined the Shinano Grandserows of the Baseball Challenge League in 2008, then announced his retirement in 2014. He is a coach for the Orix Buffaloes since 2015.

Overall, Tsuji had hit .261/.306/.376 in 6 seasons in NPB.
